Jackrabbit Deliveries Deactivated Me for Speaking Out?! (ezCater Ignored It)

So the other day, I did an off-peak Catering run for Jackrabbit Deliveries, and while I wouldn’t normally take an order during this time of the day, it’s been a minute since I did runs for them and it was nearby, so I took it (even if I didn’t really want to).
But during this order, I ended up talking to the agent via text and woof, I didn’t expect them to threaten me like this, but the way this all went down this week is crazy…
So in this video, We are talking about:
How Jackrabbit Deliveries Threatened to Cut My Pay Mid-Delivery
What they said, What ezCater said vs How it ACTUALLY is
Everything in between!

I also want to be clear that everything we are going to go over is very market dependent, and what applies to me and my market may not apply to you.
The Order itself
So the other day I did an off peak order with Jackrabbit Deliveries, it was $25 for like less than 5 miles, I normally wouldn’t take a catering order that low, but this was also so off peak, it kind of made sense.

The pick-up was simple, it was from Raw juice, in fact picking up from these people made me want to do it more because they were so ready for me and I was early and they were incredibly professional towards me.
I was still early though, so I made sure to use the bathroom, wash my hands and prepare myself for a slow ride to the drop-off.
Again, still early so I did what any responsible content creating gig worker would do and answered some comments for my YouTube Channel before dropping it off so I wouldn’t enter too early, as I have been grossly falling behind on that front.
Regardless, while I was doing that I received a questionable text message from JackRabbit Deliveries.
Support Claps Back
I have received messages from support when I arrive early and if I run early, I understand saying “hey can you please slow down” which I understand, if I am running early then ezCater gets uppity about that and I try to help the dispatchers out in that way.

What this person said I wouldn’t tolerate though, if the order is marked completed earlier than that, they are cutting my pay in half… excuse me?
Look, I am not going to claim that I disagree that your order was running early and I understand how they want to emphasize that. But threatening to cut my pay in half??
I also love how they were like, “please confirm that I received this message”, because they are trying to have me consent to their conditions on paper like I am agreeing to this behavior?
Yeah, no. I don’t consent to theft or the violations of contract.
So I clapped back with the allegations of Jackrabbit Deliveries stealing tips and asked if ezCater was aware of the threats against their drivers.
I love how their response was such a “cover your ass” response as well! Denying the allegations (even if it is confirmed by multiple members of the RMDA), but if they get fined for the amount of the order, they can take it from us… which most of that is the tip.
Don’t you just love how contradictory these disgusting freaks are?
Contacting ezCater
Now, I am not a fan of being threatened by any company let alone some Cartwheel app I can easily replace. There are so many gig apps I can sign up for that use Cartwheel as their white label app and I haven’t signed up because I can only ACTUALLY run 1 cartwheel app at a time.
So what I did was I contacted ezCater via the CEO, Nihad Rahman, and asked if this behavior was acceptable and how I can verify if I received the full tip?
They claimed they would look into this and also mentioned that they don’t control base pay but they “mandate” that the full tip and all applicable fees get passed onto the drivers. Which is just BS because I know for a fact they don’t do the latter.

So I asked if I can see the itemized receipts in that case because if we are getting the full amounts, we can verify this information right?

Nope, they won’t show us. In fact, they just said take it up with our delivery partners because that is how we would get the most “truthful” information. How can you say that when multiple partners of yours not only have conducted that behavior multiple times on your platform, but also bragged about it? And you are claiming that is the most “truthful” information?
Also, she said the most truthful information comes from their delivery partners, which implies that they are intentionally providing less than truthful information.
Which is just bullshit because that just proves they are just providing copy and paste responses and not actually providing real support, only to deflect the responsibility of the criminal behavior that is taking place on these platforms.
To be honest though, I have always had problems with their support and how they do things so I guess it shouldn’t surprise me that they perpetuate and promote fraud on their platform.
The Weird Call
Another issue I had during this week that I thought I should mention is that I received a weird call from someone who identified themselves with what is most likely an alias, opening the call with “Hey Joe, you pissed off the chef?” Like he said it like a question.

Umm how do you know my name and who the heck is the Chef, I shouldn’t be surprised that whoever is in charge would refer to themselves as “the chef” though, like the organization behind this is the RMDA, or the Restaurant Marketing Delivery Association.
It shouldn’t be surprising that they conduct fraud in this industry as well. Especially since one of the companies under Jackrabbit is King Courier Services, a company known for boasting about tip theft.
I didn’t confirm it was me and they acted like they were “Joe’s friend” after that, and they also wanted me to confirm my phone number was mine “recently”. Which is just so weird.
I am also concerned to hear how if they did confirm it was me, what were they going to say? What were they going to do? Should I be concerned with my well-being if they are hiding behind aliases and subtle threats?
I would say it is at least worth contacting the authorities on this subject.
Deactivation?
It shouldn’t surprise me after the threatening phone call and texts with less than supportive emails from ezCater, but I tried logging into the account from Jackrabbit with the information they gave me and apparently the credentials are invalid.

Meaning that they not only know that I was right, but they wanted to retaliate against me as well, which I appreciate the further evidence of wrongful termination and retaliation, on top of all of the other allegations as well, like how deep are they digging their own legal grave?
It really goes to show that these companies don’t want intelligent drivers that know what they are doing, they want drivers that shut up and “do the work.” Which is why they were setting up systems like this so systematically there is no real fighting back.
Or better put, there is no fighting back though them, because If everyone can pass the blame to everyone else, then no one has to be accountable for when things go wrong or someone does something illegal or questionable, such as threatening drivers or stealing tips.
Then who takes all the damage at the end of the day? The "idiot driver!"
Fighting Back
As I said, I am planning on fighting back against Jackrabbit, ezCater and everyone else via the FTC, the BBB and the USDOL, because I am not planning on lying down and I am working with ChatGPT to make a perfect report to take them down, but there are other things I am working on as well.
Budsoda has given me some ideas and I will be reaching out to some other people about this stuff to finally make some meaningful changes to the gig economy for the betterment of drivers.
One of the major changes would be drivers building their own Delivery Service Provider, I have the course in the description so of course you have that option too, but it is about time we brainstorm ideas to hold these companies accountable and take the gig economy back for the better.
If you would like to add some other perspective to How Jackrabbit Deliveries has been screwing with tips and threatening their drivers, feel free to email me: drivenwyld@gmail.com and who knows? Maybe your email or perspective and be featured in a post as well!
